Urbarn Massive, Storm Launch HipHop Club
10/18/2005 At a time when hip hop has started taking serious roots in Nigeria, the groove seems to be getting hotter as Urban Massive, the weekly hit show on MNet’s South African cable channel, Channel O, and Storm Productions brings to Nigeria, what has been tagged, the first and hottest hip hop club, Storm Da Mic.
The event will feature leading Nigerian disc jockeys like Jimmy Jatt, Mix Master Tee, Dj Humility, D J Chascolee on the wheels of steel. There will also be live performances by Ruggedman, Dare Art Alade, Mode 9, Sasha, Ruff Rugged & Raw, Da Trybe and Side One.
Others billed to perform include Badda Boyz, Indispensables, Six Ft Plus, Ruggedman, 2Shotz and Da Thorobreds, who just got signed onto Storm Records.
According to Obi Asika, Chairman, Storm Productions, Storm the Mic “is going to be a monthly showcase to create a focus for the hip hop scene in Nigeria.
It is a way of promoting hip hop fashion, lifestyle, and music as well as putting Nigerian MCs and artistes in the limelight and on top of the game”.
The event will be covered by the Urban Massive camera crew and Channel O’s presenter Kabelo for broadcast as part of Channel O’s ‘Urban Massive BON TV Party’.
The event, billed for upscale club, The Vault, Victoria Island, Lagos on Friday, October 21, 2005 will serve as the launch event for Storm the Mic, a new monthly hip hop party from Storm and will be hosted by the duo of KB and Olisa of Cool FM Channel O’s Kabelo as MC.
Storm the Mic is a monthly hip hop party held at The Vault and the event launch is a partnership between Storm Productions and Channel O’s Urban Massive.
